Abyss Lake is located near the town of Gustavus. It is part of the Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, which is one of the largest parks in the nation. The lake is fed by the Brady Glacier.

Ending at Abyss Lake, the Abyss Trailhead is a nearby attraction for hikers. At around 8 miles in each direction, the trail takes about 6 hours, but is well worth the hike.
